Cosmetology
(1500 hours of classroom and clinic workshop)

From the first day onwards, the hands-on Cosmetology program at Le Arai Beauty and Barber Academy teaches you the latest cosmetology methods and techniques for hair cleansing, hair cutting, coloring, texture services, hair-art hair design, makeup, nails, skin care, retail training, and professional business management.

Upon completion of this program, students are prepared to take the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Board of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) licensing exam, prior to entering the glamorous and exciting beauty industry. Career opportunities exist in hair styling, international hair coloring, salon ownership, filming and commercials, which continually open doors and ensure ongoing success.

Barber

Le Arai Beauty & Barber Academy’s barber training provides both theory and the practice of barber styling. This barber-training program brings the latest in men’s haircutting and styling, along with the most current information on barbering tools and implements. It is designed to better prepare our students for the Virginia’s Board of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) licensing exam and successful careers in the professional market.

Esthetics

Le Arai Beauty & Barber Academy provides esthetics fundamentals as an introductory training course. The training is designed to deliver a complete overview of all of the information necessary to introduce a newcomer to the world of professional skin care; including human anatomy, chemistry, electricity, skin analysis, conditions and disorders.

Students are given a comprehensive tour of the most well known, best-used treatment techniques and services requested by clients: facial massage, the use of facial machines, hair removal, advanced topical, and makeup. The training covers the history of and the opportunities in Esthetics, as well as how to create a competent and lasting professional image and effectively communicate success in the skin care business. The training prepares the learner for management of the skin care business operations and successful retailing of products and services.

Permanent Make-Up
(90 hours of classroom and clinic workshop)

Permanent make up is a tattoo. There are three different places on the face that you can get permanent make up done; the eyebrows, the eye-liner and the lip-liner. The eyebrow is one of the most common one. Eye-liner is not as popular as it used to be; it can be a little bit painful. Make sure you go to somebody who has a Virginia Permanent Makeup licensed to do permanent make up or even some tattoo artists are licensed to do it. Lip-liner is probably a little bit out dated. A lot of people don’t do the permanent lip liner because you always have to wear lipstick.

Massage Therapy (500 hours of classroom and clinic workshop)

The Le Arai Beauty & Barber Academy’s 500-hours massage therapy training is designed to prepare students for an entry-level career in therapeutic massage as a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT). The Massage Therapy program teaches the art and science of massage therapy using sound business practices, while also focusing on the medical and rehabilitative effects of massage.

Students will be able to safely assist with the treatment and care of patients while practicing standard precautions and adhering to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines. Students will be able to identify all major muscles of the body (actions, attachments, and palpation), systems within the body, and the medical terminology associated with medicine. Students will be able to assist with functional restoration through one or more soft tissue manipulation techniques to increase range of motion, flexibility, and stability, provide pain relief, relaxation, or stress reduction. Upon program completion, Le Arai Beauty & Barber Academy students are eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam offered through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards.
